Justifications were first given for the choice of magnesium (involved in photosynthesis via chlorophyll and essential mineral against stress) and microalgae (large variety of pharmaceuticals and cosmetics applications). Mechanisms of magnesium bioaccumulation were clarified and an appropriate model was elaborated and experimentally validated.
