Small droplets indeed remain always pinned and evaporate at the sunrise, lowering the water yield of this technique. It is here demonstrated by systematical experiments and theoretical analysis that simple vertical grooves of typical size 10-500 \u00b5m enhance drop coalescence, inducing a few large droplets that can slide down by gravity much earlier than the minute droplets produced on smooth surfaces.
